The pristine beaches and quality of life here in Carteret County convinced Kathleen (Kathy) Furtner and her family to relocate from the Jersey Shore to the Crystal Coast in 1987. Kathy graduated as Valedictorian from Ann May School of Nursing and Monmouth University. She has been very involved in the buying and selling of real estate since 1979 while assisting her husband in his career as a successful contractor. She decided to begin her career in real estate in 1995 and has been a multi-million dollar producer many times. She has three children, all married and living locally, and six beautiful grandchildren.

Her oldest son, Joe, is a licensed contractor and has his own company, SOBX Builders. Her daughter, Melissa graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and works for Am-Wins Insurance. Her youngest son, Kevin, graduated from ECU in construction management and works as a construction manager on the local military bases. Kathleen (Kathy) Furtner enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach, kayaking, and boating to Shack and Cape Lookout. She is also involved with Kayak for the Warriors, an annual fundraiser for Hope for the Warriors.
