Watch hundreds of kites fill the sky above Fort Macon at this free two-day festival hosted by Kites Unlimited. Stunt fliers demonstrate, oversized show kites hang overhead, and kids join candy drops and building classes. Flying centers on the swimming beach in the first parking lot inside the gates.

Run a flat, USATF-certified course along Bogue Banks in the 12th running of this coastal race. The full marathon qualifies runners for Boston. Choose the marathon, half, or 5K, all starting and finishing near the Western Ocean Regional Access. Proceeds fund the town bike path and the Carteret Health Care Foundation.
