This year, celebrating our success during our annual Real Estate Sales Awards Dinner looked a little different than in previous years. This year’s awards ceremony, which took place on February 18th, was virtual!
Every year, we gather our Sales Team together for an opportunity to look back on the progress of not only each of our individual agents but our company as a whole.
Once again, we had so much to celebrate and be thankful for during our Real Estate Sales Awards Dinner, especially after such a trying year. With almost all of our Bluewater Real Estate Agents and staff members in attendance, we celebrated our top producers, learned some interesting facts about our fellow co-workers as we played trivia games, and thoroughly enjoyed each other while we took advantage of the virtual setting from the comfort of our homes and offices.
It was a great evening and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event.

Hard Work Rarely Goes Unnoticed
At the annual end of the year meeting held by the Carteret County Association of REALTORS®, our own Sandy Futral was presented with the Ben Ball Community Service Award, which recognizes members that make outstanding and dedicated contributions to the betterment of our local community.
The acknowledgment is certainly well-deserved as Sandy has been hard at work supporting our community for the past several years. This year, in particular, was special to her, while she served as Chair of the local association’s Public Relations Committee. Below, you can read more about just a few of the events and organizations she’s focused on over the course of the year.
Swinging for Scholarships
Through Sandy’s leadership- the local board of REALTORS® was able to host its 1st Annual ‘Swing for Scholarships’ Golf Tournament Fundraiser. The event was held on August 9th and marked as a success from the 1st drive. The funds raised from this inaugural event will go to benefit members of the organization directly through the CCAR Scholarship fund. Every year, soon-to-be High School graduates with a guardian as a member of CCAR have the opportunity to be awarded scholarships for college. Sandy and the Public Relations Committee hope to give more scholarships than ever this upcoming Spring since the event was so well attended.
Hurricane Florence Relief
Our area directly felt the impacts of Hurricane Florence, which brought several days of rain into our area with heavy winds and high tides. Many families around the county were displaced due to flooding and/or roof damage, but Sandy and the CCAR team were quick to offer their support. The CCAR Board office was used as a drop-off destination for supplies such as food, water, clothing, and cleaning supplies. Members of the local community gathered together to distribute the collections to those most affected by the storm, and offer their services to anyone needing temporary housing, or those who were searching for qualified contractors to begin the rebuilding process.
Toys for Tots
For many years, Sandy has coordinated with the United States Marine Corps and hundreds of local businesses to designate themselves as a Toys for Tots drop-off location. The USMC does a great job of collecting and distributing these generous donations to the children that need them most throughout the course of the Holiday season. Toys for Tots boxes can be found at all of our Bluewater Real Estate offices- we welcome you to stop by and drop a new and unwrapped present for a child in need.
Backpacks for Kids
In addition to an Annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ event, where local Real Estate offices and similar businesses gather donations of school supplies for area educators, Sandy is heavily involved with the Backpacks for Kids team. Every week, a group of dedicated volunteers gathers together to combine a bag full of donated canned goods, fruits, snacks, nutritional bars, and healthy drinks. At the end of the week, children of low-income families take a bag home to enjoy with their families over the weekend. It’s the little things like this that make Sandy so passionate to help, as those students with free or reduced lunch options are often forgotten about over the weekends. A significant amount of time, money, and effort is contributed by Sandy for causes like this and so much more.
If you see Sandy, be sure to congratulate her on receiving the prestigious award, and thank her for everything she does in the community.
Congratulations to all award winners on another great year and Thank You to the hardworking team and volunteers that represents our local association office. Also thank you to Luis Robles of Main St. Studios for providing us the photos from this event!
December 7th, 2017 was a great day to be a part of the Bluewater family. The Carteret County Association of REALTORS® held their annual awards banquet and New Board member Installation meeting. 132 total members gathered together on a beautiful day at the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach to celebrate the accomplishments of their fellow peers.
Bebbie, from our Atlantic Beach office, was awarded with the Professional Service Award. This recognition is a true testaments to Bebbie’s commitment to provide exceptional customer service for all parties involved. The Professional Service Award is voted on and given to a REALTOR® who goes above and beyond to do whatever it takes to see a sales transaction through. With over 25 years of experience in the sales and customer service industry, it’s easy to see why the award is well deserved. As a successful business owner, and during the years that she has been a licensed broker, Bebbie has utilized her ability to listen to her clients needs, and go the extra mile for every Client. She relocated to Carteret County 11 years ago from San Diego, California. She has been married to her husband Joe of 38 years and together they have 2 married Daughters and 8 Grandchildren. Congratulations to Bebbie!
Stephanie, who is also a part of our Atlantic Beach sales office was elected to the Carteret Sounty Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors. Stephanie will serve as the Director for the Atlantic Beach area and will help the board with various duties including: Making policy decisions consistent with governing documents, Identifying important community issues, adopting the annual operational budgets, and serving as the appeal body for any Ethics hearings. We are so proud of Stephanie for stepping up and challenging herself to help our local REALTOR® Association grow to its full potential. Congratulations Stephanie!

Celebrating Emerald Isle – Voted Best Beach in North Carolina
In a recent poll from USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards – Emerald Isle was voted best beach in North Carolina. This is a great achievement and recognizes the beauty and serenity that our coastal town offers. It’s clear to see that locals take pride in keeping their beach clean, with organizations like the Surfrider Foundation organizing monthly ‘Beach Sweeps’ to pick up litter and spread the word to visitors about ‘Leaving Only Footprints.’
Points of Interest While Visiting Emerald Isle
The beach is obviously a hot spot for travelers and residents alike, but there are plenty of other amenities to take advantage of – whether you’re here for a week or a lifetime.
The 12-mile Multi-Use Path is a great way for families to get around town without loading up the car. For those dedicated individuals who can’t miss a run- it’s also a great way to burn some calories. Even if you’re just cruising on a bike to a local restaurant, or walking to your favorite bar- there’s always a reason to take advantage of the bike path!
The multiple access points to the marshlands and Intracoastal Waterway also make Emerald Isle a great destination for water-sports enthusiasts. With the largest public boat ramp in the state- boaters can spend a relaxing day on the water, without the hassle of wondering if a parking spot will be available for their trailer. If you prefer a more laid-back experience on the water- kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding are very popular and easy to rent. You can even schedule a guided tour if you’d prefer to be joined by someone with some local knowledge and experience.
For those searching for kid-friendly options, the Jean Preston Memorial Playground is adjacent to the NC Wildlife Boat Ramp at 6800 Emerald Drive. As an all-inclusive playground, there is specialized equipment designed for all types of children, including those with disabilities.
Atlantic Beach Ranked Fourth Best Beach
EI isn’t the only Crystal Coast community recognized for its beauty, Atlantic Beach was ranked fourth best beach in the same poll. With a town-sanctioned skate park, mini-golf course, and children’s splash pad, Atlantic Beach has an abundance of fun offerings for the whole family! You can also check out the new hot spots at The Circle, or explore the history and walking trials at Fort Macon.
We’re proud to have an office presence in both of these beautiful North Carolina beach communities – Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle. If you’re interested in relocating to or investing in a property at one of the top beaches in North Carolina, or a surrounding area- come see us and we’ll be happy to work with you!
