Carteret County Association of REALTORS® Awards Ceremony

Last Thursday at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast, the Carteret County Association of REALTORS® held their Annual Awards Banquet. It was a beautiful evening and a great way for the entire dedicated group of real estate professionals to celebrate all of their hard-work throughout 2017. Dinner and cocktails were served early in the evening, followed by the awards presentation and the evening was rounded out with dancing.

Platinum Level Offices

For the 2nd year in a row, both our Emerald Isle & Atlantic Beach Offices were awarded with the Platinum Level status, which is the highest attainable achievement for an office. To qualify, an office must have had at least 170 sides or more than $40 million in Total Sales Volume. Both of our office locations finished in the Top 5 of all offices that are active members of the regional association. Our Emerald Isle Office represented clients on 293.5 sides, with over $88 million in volume for an average Sale Price of over $300,000. We are so happy to have Lorna and her husband Ray as part of our Bluewater family. They are true team players and always searching for new and innovative ways to provide the most excellent real estate service.

Ron Webb- Rookie Production Award

Ron Webb, one of the newest additions to our Bluewater family, was pleasantly surprised to hear his name called as Rookie of the Year. He was responsible for over $2.5 million in Sales Volume- which led the way for newly licensed agents that joined the local association within the last 18 months. Ron marks the 3rd consecutive Rookie of the Year from Bluewater offices- which is a great example in the training and goal setting programs available to our new agents. Laina Collins, of our Emerald Isle office & Jim Bailey, from Atlantic Beach are the other two previous Rookie of the Year Award recipients.

Congratulations to all award winners on another great year and Thank You to the hardworking team and volunteers that represents our local association office. Also thank you to Luis Robles of Main St. Studios for providing us the photos from this event!

2017 Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival

FREE TO THE PUBLIC | FOOD TRUCKS | BEER & WINE PERMITTED (21+)

Don’t forget to head down to the Crystal Coast this weekend for the Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival! Some of the biggest names in the business will be coming to help you dance the day away in a place we consider paradise.

A Brief History of the Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival

For many years throughout the 80’s and 90’s this Festival brought a big crowd over to this small beach community just before the official start of the Summer season. It was held at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort, but the increase in business was evident throughout Carteret County. Ultimately, the festival grew to the point where it was no longer feasible to please everyone.

After a brief hiatus, the town and some dedicated local sponsors decided it had been long enough. Last year marked the revival of the festival and an estimated crowd of over 9,000 was there to bear witness. It was a brutally hot summer day in the end of August, but the crowd stuck it out until the very end. Overall, it was noted as a great day with some positive feedback on ways to improve for the future.

11 AM- 5 PM on Saturday, September 30th

This year, town officials decided to push the festival date back into the end of September- hoping that we’d get some of that beautiful Fall weather we all know and love. The forecast looks like we’ll get just what the doctor ordered, with temperatures in the mid 70’s throughout most of the afternoon. A slight shower is possible, but anyone whose ever spent time in EI knows you can’t let a little chance of rain spoil your fun. The music will kick-off at 11 AM with MC Sammy O’ Banion starting the party. The Fantastic Shakers, Band of Oz, Too much Sylvia, and The Embers will round out the afternoon, while Ken Knox and the Chairmen of the Board provide finishing touches. If you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing any of these bands in person, here’s your chance.

Come Early and Hungry

It might not be a bad idea to hit the beach earlier than normal because this event is sure to draw a crowd. The good news is, you won’t have to pack a sandwich because there will be plenty of delicious Mobile Food Vendors available for you to enjoy. Bring some cash and grab a bite when your stomach starts growling. There should be plenty of choices for all appetites including fresh seafood, the ever popular Dank Burrito, and some sweet treats for dessert. T-shirts will also be For Sale in the entry-way space by the Volleyball courts. Beer and wine are permitted for those who are of the legal age, but liquor will be prohibited.

Parking

Handicapped parking will be available at the big parking lot next to the Islander (101 Islander Dr).

The town will allow parking along the grass of Hwy 58 (Emerald Dr.) Please park diagonally to accommodate more vehicles and ensure everyone will be able to get out safely. If you’re lucky enough to call Emerald Isle home, you can walk or hop on a bike and hit the multiuse path to avoid traffic.

Come Say Hey!

If you’re coming into town and not yet lucky enough to call Emerald Isle home, stop by our Sales office at 200 Mangrove Dr. across from CVS. We will have some of our dedicated Real Estate Agents On-Duty, ready to help find the perfect property for you! Office open Saturday 9 AM- 5 PM, Sunday 1 PM- 5 PM

The Tams may have said it best: “Be Young, Be Foolish, but Be Happy”

Envoy the Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival, but please remember to leave the beach cleaner than you found it 🙂

The Wye in Historic Beaufort, NC

The Wye in Historic Beaufort, NC

Explore the newest community to call home!

Beaufort was established in 1709, making it the third oldest town in North Carolina and known for its rich history and coastal charm.  Nestled around Shackleford Banks & Bogue Banks, Beaufort is the most south eastern town in North Carolina.  Although this small town is just under 6 square miles, Beaufort offers a variety of delicious restaurants, historical interests, beautiful scenery and breathtaking sunsets along Taylor’s Creek.

Don’t let the size of this small town fool you, Beaufort offers a vast amount of activities and fun for all ages. Take a ride around town on the big red double-decker bus and learn all about Beaufort’s fascinating history, hear the stories behind many of the buildings and homes with historical plaques, walk through the historical grounds to see the locals reenact the life of the early settlers, explore the Old Burying Grounds & hear the captivating narratives of the ones who were put to rest there, visit the Maritime Museum & Watercraft Center to discover life on the coast & boat building techniques, stop by some of the local boutiques or sit back on the boardwalk overlooking Taylors Creek and enjoy live music while having dinner and drinks are just a few things to do in town. One interesting fact for adults and exciting piece of history for kids is that Beaufort was actually one of the places Edward Teach resided…. or more commonly known as “Blackbeard the Pirate”. Every year to celebrate the pirate heritage in Beaufort, they have the Pirate Invasion festival. This is fun-filled event is for all ages to dress up like a pirate, learn about pirates, have pretend sword fights and watch a group reenact the lives of pirates on land and on water with the Meka II, replica pirate ship owned by Sinbad the Pirate.

Beaufort is not only known for what can be found in town but also along its enchanting waters.  This seaside community is renowned for its amazing boating opportunities (both motor boating and sailing), kayaking, fishing, delicious seafood and incredible wildlife.  Hop on a small ferry boat for a scenic boat ride along Taylors Creek and see different types of wildlife including a variety of birds, herons & gulls flying around, several types of crabs along the shore, a fish being reeled in, a pod of dolphins swimming by and a local favorite, the Carrot Island horses.  These horses along with the Shackleford Banks horses date back to the 1700’s Spanish horses that were brought over on ships.  The ships would run aground near the land and the horses were among some of the animals that would swim to shore.  It is a stunning site to see these magnificent wild horses in a natural setting.

Gorgeous weather and a beautiful picturesque waterfront make Beaufort the perfect destination for family-friendly fun and creates a fantastic atmosphere for the many festivals, concerts and tours held throughout the year.  The calendar of events in downtown Beaufort has a little for everyone ranging from the Beaufort Food & Wine Festival in April, the Wooden Boat Show & Boatbuilding Challenge the first weekend in May, Beaufort Music Festival the third weekend in May, the Beaufort Old Homes & Gardens Tour in June, the Pirate Invasion the second weekend in August and is the host of art shows, wine tastings, live music, farmers’ market and much, much more. *

With so much to offer in such a quaint little community, it is no surprise Beaufort has been nationally recognized as “The Coolest Small Town” with several different publications.

The Art of Entertaining

expertly decorating your home during the holidays

1-garland

I cannot believe December is here with Christmas on its way! The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year. Of course, who isn’t excited for the holiday season? It is a time for giving (not just receiving, although I think anyone would be lying if they said they didn’t have a few items on their own lists), decorating, celebrating the season, and for some of us, hosting holiday parties!

I love being the hostess. I am a planner and perfectionist; which means I drive my husband crazy on a daily basis. When we entertain everything must be in order, look its absolute best, and for big events, decorated perfectly. Each year we scour the stores for new ornaments, decor, tableware, and anything else that catches our eye. I like for our home to feel cozy and festive.

While setting up for gatherings or parties, I like to have dedicated areas for everything. I roll in a bar cart to set up the liquor, mixers, glassware, and ice. The counter top bar becomes an horderves buffet while the dining room is set for dinner. Festive coasters decorate the coffee and end tables to invite drinks to sit on them (whether or not that actually happens is a different story in and of itself). The mantel and tree are lit and holiday music is played throughout the evening. And in true holiday spirit some disaster is bound to occur. In our home it usually consists of Simon (our cat) jumping on the table to try and get some tasty treats or Scout (our dog) running for a toy, mauling over someone in her hot pursuit, and red wine spilling because said guest is now on the floor.

pillows sevan-collection-knitted-christmas-design-throw-blanket-c2d157c6-d501-45e8-8431-41ee3ca14bee_600throw reindeer

While red is not normally in my color wheel, there is something about the vibrant color that screams HOLIDAYS to me. I like to add a touch with red throw blankets, pillows, and place-mats. To break up the vibrancy of the color I like to add white and light beige undertones. This is a drastic change from my normal gray and blue/green hues

My main issue from year to year is my dining room table. I always feel my center piece is just a little too generic or not keeping with the rest of my theme. However, this year I plan to master it. My center piece will be full of garland and pillar candles. My table will pop with the place settings and still keep some of its coastal cottage charm with the nautical napkin rings below. With the red place-mats, white china, and red napkins my table will be festive and inviting!

birch-lane-anchor-napkin-ring-cos33807 christmas-table-setting

My home is about to be holiday ready, just a few more items are needed for it to be 100% and entertainment to begin. In fact, in crazed perfectionist fashion, I am going to rope my husband into finishing my masterpiece today! Seasons Greetings!

hello

I grew up on our beautiful Crystal Coastal and have enjoyed the beaches, boating, and atmosphere of coastal living for much of my life. For 6 years I lived in Charlotte, NC where I worked as a Pediatric Cardiology RN; however, my husband and I decided Charlotte was not for us anymore and it was time to move back to the coast.
I have always had a knack for helping others whether it was on mission trips or my career as a nurse. I am excited to be helping others from a different perspective now and hope I can be of assistance to you in finding your paradise on the Crystal Coast.

What’s New in Emerald Isle, NC?

Being a full-time resident of Emerald Isle, I get asked a lot “What’s New?”  Well, actually a lot is “new” to our family beach town.  The quieter winter months give an opportunity for new and existing local businesses to open, expand & remodel.

The buzz around Emerald Isle involves several family-owned businesses catered to our beach vacationers.

What’s New at Rucker Johns

You must check out the newly remodeled Rucker Johns Restaurant located in the Emerald Plantation.  You will not believe the interior transformation!  So fresh & inviting with hues of blues & grays.  I was so happy to hear the menu stayed the same though.  I couldn’t imagine any improvements were needed to their tasty food – especially the salmon salad and warm, sweet croissants – my personal favorite.

While waiting for a table inside or outside on the deck at Rucker Johns, stop by the new Island Time Tavern located right next to RJs.  Lots of craft beers & select wines to be tasted while sitting outside on the deck.  Live music, karaoke, and DJS are scheduled throughout the spring, summer and fall.

what’s new at rucker johns is croissants

Being a dog lover, I was so excited for the opening of the K9 and Coffee Shop which allows coffee lovers to bring their furry family member inside for coffee (for human consumption only) while shopping for their needed pet supplies.  While out for a stroll, stop by & rest a bit on their covered porch located next to the Post Office on Emerald Drive.

You cannot miss a walk after dinner at the Bogue Inlet Pier.  The new store expansion with offices above is sure to please the fishermen and all those who love to see what’s biting.  Located at the Bogue Inlet Pier, the Surf’s Up oceanfront restaurant – Emerald Isle’s only waterfront dining venue – will open mid-summer.  The views are forever.

Lastly, the Islander Hotel has taken on a major expansion and remodeling project over the winter.  Expected to be completed in May, the oceanfront hotel will feature 20 new rooms, a new check-in lobby, a store for those things guests may have forgotten, a large 4000 square foot event room as well as a 1200 square foot conference room perfect for business meetings or smaller events.  The Islander is a popular oceanfront venue for those love birds ready to say “I do.”

As you drive across the hi-rise bridge this spring & summer, remember to leave your worries behind, take a deep breath & drive on island time to put your toes in the sand.  Shop local.  Life is simple in Emerald Isle and remember, “Nice Matters”.
