Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition Fall Show 2019

Down East Folk Arts Society Concert – Sally Barris

In keeping with our mission “To Build Community Through Music”, the Down East Folk Arts Society will once again be bringing World Class Singers/Songwriters to Craven County and the Crystal Coast of North Carolina this Fall. Recognized as one of the finest of the many singer-songwriters in the folky, Americana genre today, Sally Barris holds her own as both an evocative singer and striking songwriter. Living History Weekend

Re-enactors with the 1st NC Volunteers will be spending the weekend at Fort Macon presenting the public with special events and programs. Introduction to Wooden Boat Building Course

Explore the art of boatbuilding in this two-day, hands-on course. Students age 16 and up begin with lofting, and move on to the setup, steam bending and different methods of creating the backbone of small boats. They also learn planking methods, both carvel and lapstrake, and use of appropriate fasteners. After two days, students will have the knowledge, skill, and confidence to choose a design and style of boat to build on their own. Kayak the Salt Marsh

Learn about local history while on the water. Basic instruction and safety lessons are followed by a relaxing paddle through a salt marsh. BHA Membership Meeting and Volunteer Picnic 2019

2019 Lookout Shootout Fun Run

What started out as a boyhood passion has become one of the most popular events on the Morehead City Waterfront. A small group of volunteers put together an event for the locals and invited guests and participants from as far away as Florida. We welcome everyone to the Crystal Coast, one of the most beautiful coasts on the east coast. Let’s take a ride in our boats for a good cause.

NC East Sports, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to engage, gather and inspire family, friends and visitors of all ages from all over the country to the Crystal Coast, focusing on local support for a seasonal community and provide an action pact event for participants and spectators and boating enthusiasts​

We consider the Lookout Shootout Fun Run a welcome addition to all the activities that take place on and around the intracoastal waterway.  The Fun Run is a Saturday event that takes you to stops in Oriental, Cape Lookout, Beaufort and Morehead City to compete for the best poker hand. There is a blackjack option available as well.

1st Annual Emerald Isle Fall Fishing Tournament

The 1st Annual Emerald Isle Fishing Tournament will be a family friendly King Mackerel tournament where elite and sport fisherman alike can compete and provide a positive environment for young anglers. 100% of the entry fees are paid directly to the participants in the forms of prizes and other awards.

Blue Knights Chapter XVII 12th Annual Officer Down Memorial Ride

Caviar Farm Tour & Tasting

That’s right, there’s a caviar farm right here in Carteret County!

Marshallberg Farm is the largest producer of Russian Sturgeon caviar in the U.S.A., with capacity to produce up to 3 tons of caviar per year. Due to popular demand, the Down East facility will be holding a series of farm tours and caviar tastings.

The tour includes a guided walk amongst 40 indoor recirculating aquaculture tanks that teem with sturgeon and span some 54,000 square feet of building space. Following the tour, there will be a caviar and smoked sturgeon tasting and a chance to purchase products.

4th Annual Beaufort’s Brewin’ Craft Beer Festival

Prepare to raise a glass September 27th and 28th to mark Beaufort Wine and Food’s fourth annual craft beer festival, Beaufort’s Brewin’. The two day festival will feature a variety of events held in Beaufort and will range in size from beer dinners, luncheons and seminars to the headline event; Beer, Bubbles and BBQ held in downtown Beaufort. Partnering with regional distributors and over two dozen breweries from across the state and beyond, BWF has crafted a stellar line up of events to generate great exposure for the organization and the Crystal Coast. Over the course of two days, guests are immersed in a number of beer focused events. Friday, 9/27 there will be a beer seminar, beer dinners and the crowd favorite Pub Crawl. Saturday leads up to the headline event for the festival – Beer, Bubbles and BBQ, which will be held in the West Parking lot (400 block of Front Street) in downtown Beaufort from 3 – 7 p.m. and feature over 25 craft breweries and brew pubs, with a sampling from across the state and beyond. Guests will have the chance to vote for their favorite brewery during the event and the winner will be announced at the event. In addition to tasting dozens of beers at Beer Bubbles and BBQ, guests will be treated to a variety of BBQ and sides, as a number of regional pitmasters put their best dish forward in a People’s Choice BBQ competition. Live music will round out the entertainment for the afternoon event. Proceeds from ticket sales go towards BWF’s mission to support local charities and non-profits that strive to improve life in Carteret County. 2019 Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival

Shackleford Banks: Horses, Hiking & History

The North Carolina Seafood Festival

October 4, 2019 – October 6, 2019

The North Carolina Seafood Festival takes place on the Morehead City Waterfront. The largest three-day festival in North Carolina, its highlights are an endless variety of seafood prepared in a multitude of ways, street dances, concerts, arts and crafts (about 200 vendors), Flounder Fling and an International Award-Winning Chef’s Tent, Southern Outer Banks Boat Show, educational exhibits, hands-on programs for kids and rides and games. Saturday night fireworks are enjoyed by festival goers and neighbors alike. The festivities are spread from the North Carolina State Port to 11th Street on the beautiful Morehead City waterfront. Free parking is available at the port on Saturday and Sunday with shuttles transporting festival-goers to the fun. Admission is always free, but bring cash for all the extras that will tempt your wallet!

Triple Bridge Road Race

Here’s your chance to take in beautiful Crystal Coast views from not one, not two, but THREE bridges, during our Triple Bridge Road Race, Saturday, October 5, 2019. #NCSeafoodFestival is partnering with Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department and Run The East to host a 5K, 10K, and a Half Marathon. The starting line for the 10K and half marathon begins at 7:00 am in Beaufort and runners travel over the new Beaufort Bridge, the Morehead City Bridge past the Port and across the Atlantic Beach Bridge to finish on the ocean side of the Atlantic Beach Causeway. The 5K begins at 7:30 am near the Festival grounds. The registration site will be available soon, so stay tuned! Be a part of this one-of-a-kind, inaugural event!

The tournament will run from 8am Saturday, October 12th – November 23th, 2019. All trout must be caught by fishing on foot (surf, pier, inlet, sound) from Fort Macon to Emerald Isle; no boats. 40th Annual Treasure Hunt

October 19, 2019 | 9 AM – 8 PM

On October 19, 2019, Discovery Diving will be hosting its 40th Annual Underwater Treasure Hunt which helps raise money for the Diver’s Alert Network (DAN) and the Mile of Hope Children’s Cancer Event. This event is a true ‘treasure hunt’ where divers get to scuba dive off the rock jetty at Radio Island in Beaufort, NC. They seek treasure in the form of numbered oyster shells. After numbered oyster shells have been found and collected, we then return to the dive shop for a pig pickin’ feast and the drawing for prizes. It’s all very exciting and makes for a really fun day! This event is one of the largest single day gathering of divers and like- minded people in North Carolina.

Caviar Farm Tour & Tasting

That’s right, there’s a caviar farm right here in Carteret County!

Marshallberg Farm is the largest producer of Russian Sturgeon caviar in the U.S.A., with capacity to produce up to 3 tons of caviar per year. Due to popular demand, the Down East facility will be holding a series of farm tours and caviar tastings.

The tour includes a guided walk amongst 40 indoor recirculating aquaculture tanks that teem with sturgeon and span some 54,000 square feet of building space. Following the tour, there will be a caviar and smoked sturgeon tasting and a chance to purchase products.

Diamond City Gala Art and Music Festival

Diamond City Gala is a non-profit organization annually celebrating local history, art and music while raising money to support our local community. This year’s Gala aims to help rebuild Carteret County’s Community Theatre, damaged from Hurricane Florence in the Fall of 2018. Diamond City Gala is named after the historic village called Diamond City which was a fishing and whaling village on Shackleford Banks. It was called Diamond City in reference to the diamonds on the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Across the sound is nearby Morehead City. The Diamond City Gala is held in Morehead City, and its name reflects the heritage of the region. The Diamond City Gala will be held October 19, 2019 for the first time. The event takes place in Morehead City from 12-6 pm at MLK, Jr. Park which is located at the intersection of 10th and Arendell Street (behind the historic train depot).

2019 Tuna Run 200

The Tuna Run 200 is an amazing, overnight relay adventure in which you and your friends Run 200 Scenic Miles to finish at the beach and enjoy tuna and your beverage of choice after a job well done. The Tuna Run 200 begins just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina in Lake Benson Park in Garner and will finish at the beach in Atlantic Beach on the Crystal Coast.

1st Annual Dog Walk – Wag This Way

October 26, 2019 | 9 AM – 11 AM

Mitchell Village Animal Hospital is going to host their 1st Annual “Wag this Way” dog walk this fall. 100% of proceeds to benefit a different local charity each year. This year’s proceeds go to the Carteret Community Theatre. Event will take place at Jaycee Park in Morehead City. Entry fee $20 per person. Children walk free. Sponsorships are available.

Early Bird Holiday Bazaar

October 26, 2019 | 9 AM – 3 PM

Art, homemade items, and food will be offered by local artists. The Bazaar will be held at the Peer Recovery Center.  There is no entry fee.  The Otway Burns Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring the Festival and proceeds will be used to assist the military and provide scholarships for college.

Craftsman Style Architecture Tour

October 26, 2019 | 10 AM – 5 PM

The Beaufort Woman’s Club will host the first Craftsman Style Architecture Tour on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour goers can visit homes in the Beaufort historic district and the nearby Highland Park subdivision. They can also stop by the Beaufort Train Depot to hear Dr. Dan Krautheim, Craftsman homeowner and enthusiast, present the history and features of Beaufort’s Craftsman style architecture. Proceeds will benefit the Beaufort Boys and Girls Club, Carteret Community Theatre, The MirIAM and other charities. 32nd Annual Carolina Kite Festival

October 26, 2019 | 10 AM – October 27, 2019 | 4 PM

Kites Unlimited presents the 32nd Annual Carolina Kite Festival at Sands Villas Resorts in Atlantic Beach. Bring a kite and a camera and enjoy the day. We will be on the beach around 10:00 and plan to have lunch at Tight Lines, Morehead City around 1:00 p.m. If you are interested in being included in the group lunch, please inform June or Steve that day, so you may be included in the reservation. Most of the kite action takes place during the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. There will be a night fly on Saturday 6pm -until. Spectators are welcome but all are encouraged to participate. Admission is free – just the wind, sand, and colorful kites. Bring your kites and join us for a fun event for the entire family.

3rd Annual Glow in the Dark Trick or Treat

Four suppers per year featuring our county’s freshest from our local farmers crafted into a delicious meal by a local chef. What could be better? We host these dinners at local farms so you can enjoy a different outdoor experience, meet the farmers and ask questions of our chefs. Try new vegetables, fruits and proteins local to Carteret County. We have fun and we eat really well!
