EMERALD ISLE TOWN UPDATES – MARCH 20, 2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE – BEACH DRIVING SUSPENDED
The highest priority for the Town of Emerald Isle is the health and safety of our community. This includes full-time residents, part-time residents, businesses and tourists.
The Town of Emerald Isle is diligently working with all federal, state, county, and local officials to reduce the possible community spread of COVID-19.
At this time, Carteret County and Emerald Isle officials are discouraging tourist travel to the coast.
Effective March 20, 2020, the Town of Emerald Isle will suspend beach driving:
- Emerald Isle will suspend the sale of beach driving permits effective immediately
- At 9:00 PM on March 20, 2020, beach access gates will close
- Beach driving privileges will be suspended until further notice
Town officials will review the duration of all closures/ restrictions and adjust the schedule as soon as possible.
The Town of Emerald Isle apologizes to our current permit holders for this unforeseen suspension. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN UPDATES – MARCH 20, 2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE – PUBLIC BEACH PARKING AREAS CLOSED
Atlantic Beach Public Beach Parking Areas Closed
To further reduce the possible community spread of COVID-19, the Town of Atlantic Beach will temporarily close its public beach parking areas and public restrooms.
Effective at 4:30 p.m. on March 20, 2020, the Town of Atlantic Beach will close the following public beach parking areas and all public restrooms. Parking areas will remain closed until further notice. The locations include:
- Boardwalk CAMA Lot (at the Circle)
- Boardwalk Pavilion Lot (at the Circle)
- Boardwalk Gravel Lot (at the Circle)
- New Bern Avenue Beach Access
- Henderson Blvd. Beach Access
THE ATLANTIC BEACH BRIDGE WILL REMAIN OPEN, BUT THE TOWN DISCOURAGES ENTRY INTO THE TOWN BY THOSE WHO ARE NOT RESIDENTS OF, OR PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE TOWN.
