"I was planning on a May wedding at an oceanfront beach house for about 85 people and really didn’t think it was necessary to hire a wedding planner – it was going to be classy but casual. I thought we could take care of the details ourselves and save that money for something else. My mother thought we really needed someone to help us so I gave in and we hired Chelsea from Bluewater. She gave us fantastic recommendations for everything from caterers to cakes to where to get our nails done. We used all her suggestions. For months I emailed several times a week and she always responded quickly. On the big day she and Katy showed up at noon and guided us through the wedding at 5:30 on the beach and through the reception until after 11:00. They handled every little problem that came up and even kept the rain away until late. We started with a great wedding planner and ended up with a friend. Hiring them was the best choice I made – except for the groom of course :)

''My husband, Andy, and I live in New York. He is originally from Atlanta and I am from Upstate New York. We met a few years back while working on disaster relief, ironically we decided to have our wedding during hurricane season! We love to travel when we get some down time and always wanted to have a simple elegant beach wedding. We heard wonderful things about The Crystal Coast and the Outer Banks but had never had the chance to visit. As we started to research our options we came across Bluewater in Emerald Isle, NC. We had decided that we wanted to have our wedding and the reception at an ''Event Home'' in a location that would be accessible to friends and family on both sides. We truly did not know where to begin given that we had never been there and with our careers we were doing much of the planning over email and on a limited schedule. We contacted Bluewater to discuss the rental options for a home and how to go about planning our wedding and reception. We immediately found Chelsea Donovan, Event Coordinator with Bluewater. After speaking to Chelsea, I knew at that our wedding day was going to be perfect, she was in perfect step with what Andy and I wanted.

We booked a weekend in Emerald Isle to see the home and meet Chelsea. Based upon our thoughts and ideas of what we wanted she was able to match us with the best vendors and had an itinerary ready for us on our arrival. Everyone that we met with, Floyd's 1921 (the caterer), Kathy Canby (cake), hair and make-up and Crystal Coast Tent and Event rentals -- were absolutely amazing and exactly what we wanted. Without Chelsea, it would not have been possible for us find all these incredible people. When we left that weekend I knew that we were in good hands and we were able to enjoy all of the planning with none of the headaches often associated with an often daunting task.

We were married August 9, 2010, on the beach, with our reception at the event home, Shamrock. Chelsea went above and beyond to make sure that everything was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Even the brief rain shower the morning of the wedding was not a negative factor in the least. Chelsea and her associate Jordan, were wonderful to our guests and took great pictures! We were so surprised and thrilled to see the montage of photos and video that they had put together for us, unexpectedly! Our day was wonderful. We would recommend the entire Bluewater team to everyone. Our time on Emerald Isle was perfect, and we are planning our next visit. Can't wait to see Chelsea again!! We have found a wonderful vacation spot, and made some great friends."
