Emerald Isle Summer 2V2 Beach Volleyball Tournament Series

Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation presents their 2 v 2 Beach Volleyball Tournament Series for four Saturdays this summer, from 9:00am until the last game is over. Co-Ed tournaments will be on June 22nd, July 27th, August 31th and September 28th.
They will take place at the Western Ocean Regional Access on Islander Drive in Emerald Isle (between Queen's Court Condos and Islander Suites). Registration is $25 per team (deadline is Thursday before the tournament at 5pm). No tournament day registration. Payments are
cash only. Prize money will go to the first and second place teams (70% to first place; 30% to second place).
Players must be at least 16 years of age. Teams bring their own ball and will act as officials when not playing. Plan to officiate even after elimination. There are no rain dates. Refunds will be issued for bad weather. Registration/Roster forms may be downloaded at www.emeraldisle-nc.org/eiprd or may be picked up at the Emerald Isle Community Center, 7500 Emerald Drive.

We'll have a variety of things we've found on the beach on display, including 101 North Carolina shells, fossils and the largest find in our collection - the skeleton of a 33.5-foot sperm whale that washed ashore at Cape Lookout in 2004. This event is usually held the last weekend in September and attracts dealers and the public alike. Coins collectors from near and far travel to this annual event to view, sell, swap and trade coins of all types. You'll find everything from currency to ancient coins including medals, tokens, U.S. and world coins, and more. There are books, educational supplies and other publications on hand, too. Hosted by the local Numismatic Coin Club, this event draws a crowd of an estimated 500 visitors over the weekend. Admission is a $1 raffle ticket with hourly drawings and the chance to win a gold coin and mint set.

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 30th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa's will be sent back to the North Pole! Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant's Park! Enjoy free refreshments, as well as a holiday caroling sing-a-long as Santa Claus visits with the children. To enter, contact Diane Schools at 252.354.2916.

The festival features over 75 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, clowns and static displays along with amusement rides, a climbing wall, face painters, and many other fun, family-oriented activities. As always, the festival will feature delicious foods such as corned beef and cabbage, shrimp burgers, hamburgers and hot dogs, Mediterranean cuisine, BBQ, funnel cakes, fried peanuts, cotton candy and much, much more. Festival goers can also enjoy a beer garden.

The Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest will take place on the main stage at 11am. The contest is for boys and girls ages 2-3 and 4-5 with each participant being judged on the originality and creativity of their costume and overall stage presentation.
